Chef Ha’s Mactan Restaurant: Your Go-To Korean BBQ Spot in Cebu
This is a post about Chef Ha’s Mactan Restaurant (하선생 정육식당), located in Mactan, Cebu.
As its Korean name suggests (정육식당:Jeong-yuk Sikdang means butcher shop restaurant), this is an authentic Korean-style butcher shop restaurant where you can enjoy traditional Korean dishes like Samgyeopsal (Pork Belly) and Dwaeji Galbi (Pork Ribs).
On this particular day, we visited Chef Ha’s for a simple lunch.

Upon entering the restaurant, you’ll immediately notice the meat corner, which confirms its identity as a ‘butcher shop restaurant.’
The dining hall with the tables looks like the image above. It is clean and has a large number of tables.

We ordered Jeyuk Deopbap (Spicy Stir-fried Pork over Rice) and Bibim Naengmyeon (Spicy Cold Noodles) for our meal.
When Chef Ha’s Mactan Restaurant first opened, it didn’t enjoy much popularity. However, as word started to spread, it has now become a frequently visited spot for Koreans residing in Mactan, Cebu.
Thanks to the unique, yet unfamiliar, ‘butcher shop system’ in Korea and the growing popularity of Korean cuisine, the restaurant has also started attracting Filipino locals and other international travelers. It seems likely that in the near future, the number of Filipino and foreign visitors will exceed that of Korean patrons.
If you are traveling in Cebu and craving Korean food—especially Samgyeopsal, Dwaeji Galbi, and a glass of Soju—I highly recommend Chef Ha’s Mactan Restaurant!
